Job

Job (role), a regular activity performed in exchange for payment

Career

A person’s “course or progress through life (or a distinct portion of life)”.

Do you have a job or a career? I have two careers. One is to improve business processes utilizing large scale information technology. The other is to help people make important life changes. I never think of them as jobs.

How do you define what you do? I hope you at the very least have a career.

I love the way Chris Rock defines a Job vs. a career.

It’s hilarious yet oh so true.

If you do not have a career, begin to make a few life changes to create one.

It’s never too late.

How I Started A New Life With One Hour

There are 24 hours in a day. Once those 24 hours are up, that day will be gone forever. Then a new one starts all over. Then it is gone forever too. How are you spending each day?

The burning question is how do you spend your 24 hours? During the week, we may have 7 hours to sleep,8 hours for work, 1 -2  hours for various and traffic, 2 hours for meals. This leaves us with about 6 hours. Let’s say we exercise for 1 hour and if we have a family, 3 hours with them.

We still have about 2 hours left over.

1-2 hours to start your dream.

1-2 hours to begin your blog.

1-2 hours to meditate and relieve your stress.

1-2 hours to read self development and expand your mind.

I spend 1 hour a day on this website, writing, editing, modifying, creating and finding incredible meaning and purpose.

What is stopping you from planting the seeds of the dream life you always imagined? Why aren’t you spending an hour a day on what YOU love? Why are you giving 8 hours to a corporation and leave nothing for yourself?

It’s time to stop screwing around, wasting your time and make the life changes you want right now.

There is absolutely no excuse.

Love – The Ultimate Life Change

If one of your personal values is love and you have it as a core value in your  tracker, do you have a good definition of love?   Or is your definition just warm and fuzzy?

In Barbara Frederickson’s book Positivity she comes up with a pretty good definition.

Positivity comes in ten forms.

Joy.

Gratitude.

Serenity.

Interest

Hope.

Pride.

Amusement.

Inspiration.

Awe.

Love.

Why is love at the bottom of this list? Because if you mix all of these up in a blender… you get love.

Think about a time you felt love. At  different points in time it had most of these elements in it. When you define love as a personal value, whether love of a person or love of the world it helps to remember what makes up love.

You just may want a little of all of these positive elements in there.

Just to remind you what love really is.

If You Don’t Set Goals Now, You’ll Hate Yourself Later.

You are getting this because you subscribed to the My Life Changes newsletter. Something inside of you decided that you need to make life changes.  A serious part of making life changes is setting goals.

What type of life do you want? What specifically do you want out of life? What goals can you write down that will motivate you to make important life changes?

Do you wish to lose weight so you can run in the backyard with your kids next year?

Do you wish to get out of debt so you can take a dream vacation or start a business?

Do you want to begin meditating so work and family stress is easier to deal with?

These are a few specific goals you can vision and keep in your head until you have reached them.

These are a few specific examples of goals you can use to gain courage, self confidence and create a healthy self image.

It’s time for you to take action right now. Don’t end up hating yourself now because you didn’t take action  right now.

Make your dreams a reality. Nothing is stopping you except yourself.

Break free of your chains and just do it.

Yes I have My Life Changes, and I love this site but it isn’t nearly enough to live on.  This is my time to take my work experience and sell it to the world. Yes, the entire world.  This is my time to run a world class business exactly how I want to. I will own it, learn from its failures and rejoice in its success.

In time I will be able to work from anywhere in the world, on an iPhone , ipad or laptop. I will have the freedom and control over my career and life like I have always dreamed of. In the morning I will wake up to the soft roll of ocean waves because that is where my new home will be.

So come for the ride and I hope you will learn a thing or two about creating an incredible online business over the next few months. I am going to rock the business world to its core.

Go From A Good Life To A Great Life!

In a World Wide Gallop poll of 150 different countries a study was conducted to see what factors came into play for us to experience a Great Life.  Interestingly enough this coincides with what the number 1 personal value members of this website are searching for. Balance.  To have a great and balanced life here are the 5 main areas of your life to focus on.  If you only work on one or two areas you won’t have a great life. To truly have a great life it takes all 5 areas.

Health

What you fuel your body with has a huge impact on whether you have a great life or only a good life.  Allowing your emotions to control your eating habits is a huge mistake, especially when try to make yourself happy with greasy hamburgers and fries. Every unhealthy meal you eat will have a negative impact on your future great life. My best tip here is to ALWAYS keep sweets and unhealthy foods out of the house so you are NEVER tempted. Ok, maybe some dark chocolate is fine. Try this for a start!

Work

Most of us spend 8 hours a day at work. These eight hours a day can have a major influence on whether our entire day will be merely good or great! To become great at work use your strengths to become the best at what you do and don’t focus on your weaknesses! Think back to your best moments and build on those. That is the best advice I can give you on work. Use your strengths!

Money

Money is nice to have but when you only accumulate things the initial joy never lasts in those objects.  What you need to buy is experiences. I’ve written about this a few times here. READ IT! Building wonderful memories for yourself with friends and family will definitely have you look back at your life as a Great Life. That fancy car you had in 1999 will not.  Spend your money wisely (and save some).

Social Network

Who we hang around with has a huge impact on how happy we will be. It’s proven that our friends or family have a huge impact on whether we eat, exercise, smoke or get fat. Maybe it’s time to take a hard look at who is in your social network and whether they are getting in the way of a great life. Get an awesome social network!

Values

I’m going to say this again. Your personal values drive you towards the life you dream of. You have to figure them out! My main value in life is freedom. Freedom from stress, from money worries, from bad health and bad luck. Whenever I think about freedom I get pumped up and I make another small step towards a life of freedom. I save that money each week, I eat my broccoli, and I have a good laugh with close friends.  Now THAT is a life free of crap and going towards great. Figure out what value or values drive you!

So there you have it. Time to make some changes. Time to create a plan and have a great life!

How To Envision And Build Your Dream Life

Welcome all you new subscribers to www.mylifechanges.com! You are joining thousands who have already begun the journey to success, love and happiness! This website will make you think. Thinking is good! Here are the three easy steps towards leading the life of your dreams.

1. Who are you?

First, you need to decide who YOU are. Are you an entrepreneur, father and athlete? Or are you a philosopher, businessman and wealth builder? Are you a combination of a few of these? Understanding your overall roles in life is absolutely essential to who you are and what kind of life you wish to pursue while on this beautiful planet.

2. What are your core values?

Why in the world would anyone start goal setting without understanding your core values? Your core values drive your emotions, feelings and moral compass in life. One of my core values is freedom. I envision a life of freedom. Freedom from debt. Freedom from any money worries. When I think about freedom I also picture myself getting up in the morning and working on what I love to do, never worrying about money and enjoying nature, family and friends. Of course I want that core value of freedom in my life! It’s incredibly beautiful and liberating! Now you are ready to set goals according to who you are and what core values are especially meaningful to you.

3. What are your goals?

Take your most important core value and set a goal that will help you live accordingly to it. If your value is happiness, your goal may be to start the morning off with a smile. It’s simple but goals don’t have to be complicated to have a huge effect. Don’t set too many goals. It will be too difficult to reach a bunch at the same time. Kind of hard to quit smoking, lose weight and meditate all at the same time.

Track your changes

Use the color coded tracker to see how you are doing. I made the tracker as visual and simple as possible to make it easy for you and I. You are now on your way to making incredible life changes. Congratulations!

Get Rid Of Passive Barriers To Live Your Dream Life

November 11, 2009 by Terry

I opened up my credit card bill recently and grimly realized that a payment to a caterer was on it. My original intention was to pay this portion cash a few months ago. But passive barriers crept into my mind and hijacked my common sense and discipline. What are passive barriers? They are those self destructive thoughts that make us delay both minor and important decisions. I’ll get to it later. It won’t make a big difference in my life. I’m too tired to do this. It’s too complicated. I’ll get rejected. The sad part is that some people let passive barrier thinking affect their whole life.

What are some important decisions that people put off? I should get a health check up. I really should invest in the company savings plan. I will pay off my credit cards this year. I’ll phone that family member tomorrow. I’ll lose ten pounds by the end of next month.

So why do we put these things off? In most cases we try to change too many bad habits at once, which will usually lead to nothing changed. It’s much easier to focus on one area of our life instead of five. This way we create a constant awareness of a life change instead of just giving it a second thought. The other is the classic instant gratification feeling as opposed to a long term investment. We may have fun spending on our credit cards or eating those French fries right now. But in the future we may find ourselves with no savings and horribly overweight with a heart condition.

The choice is yours. Be honest with your passive barriers and address them one by one towards a future of contentment and joy. Or have fun now and pay dearly later. I have to go pay my credit card bill now. Sheesh.
