Tips
- The most important tip for reaching goals is to use reminders on a regular basis. I cannot stress this enough. Reminders make sure we update our progress on a regular basis and are on the right track to reaching our goals and our dream goals. Tiger Woods uses a coach to help him improve his game and also constantly remind him of where he is at with his golf goals.
Using reminders whether they are people or computer generated, keep us accountable to our goals and our promises. And not being accountable to our own promises is the single biggest reason we fail at reaching our goals.
Without reminders to help you track your progress you will most likely fail. With regular reminders, whether they are daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly, you will increase your changes of reaching your goal ten fold.
- When choosing or creating a goal it will be considerably easier to accomplish that goal if it is clear and adequately detailed. For example creating a goal called, “I will get in great shape” is too general and vague. Making that goal into “I will bike every second day” or “I will always use my bike for errands” is much more understandable and attainable to you and your brain.
- It’s probably a great idea to use the “due date” functionality in the choices / goal section. This enables you to commit to a date as to when you want to start that goal. How many times have you promised yourself to start that home project? By committing yourself to a date, you then create a committed timeslot in your day, clearing the way for many accomplishments.
- The most important choice in life is good health. Making this goal a priority will make all your other goals easier to accomplish. Whether it's painting a room, taking a class or starting a business, good health makes all these goals much easier to attain!
- I can’t stress how important it is to celebrate small victories. So when you see the tracker indicating that a choice/goal is going from red to yellow to green, have a mini-celebration and take pride in your accomplishments! Now you are feeling like you are building on something and THAT will motivate you right to the end. Changing behaviours is certainly a challenge but with positive reinforcement and the real evidence from the tracker anything is possible!
