5 Tips To Create Your Best Life For 2010

Happy belated Christmas and all the Best in the New Year!

You are about to find out my best life changing lessons not only from 2009 but also from hundreds books, blogs and tweets over the past few years. These methods are useful, helpful and are here to solve your problems.

  • Defining your core values and living by them RIGHT NOW is possible. If you define freedom as a core value you can step out of worrying about the future and live in the present moment right away. Just stepping outside and looking up at the sky can be an amazing experience. These simple moments can bring perspective to what’s important really important to you. I take in the morning sky every day before hopping in the car. We live an amazing and free life if we choose to!
  • Using an index card to create awareness of a new habit IS one of the best life changing tools you can use. Define your values you wish to live by and write down a goal on an index card. Carry that card with you and look at it 20 times a day if you have to. The message may be “Create healthier body “or “Am I being a loving person today?” These messages create a continuous awareness deep inside you. Look at that card often until you live your new habit every day.
  • Live in the moment. Living in the moment and not dwelling in the past or future is one of the best life lessons I have learnt this past year. Living in the now will enrich each moment of your my life as worries fade away and you learn to enjoy the simpler things in life.
  • Let go of money worries and live a life of freedom and happiness. Why cannot we be happy right now? Isn’t happiness just a choice? Isn’t happiness just a conscience decision? Of course it is. You can choose to be happy or miserable today. You can get up in the morning and embrace the new day or let your worries take over. Money has nothing to do with it. It’s all in the mind.
  • Step out of your emotions, worries, fear and stress. Open your heart to living the best life you can right now. When you close your heart your mind closes and all kinds of worry creep in. Keeping an open heart gives your endless energy and allows you to be a loving person. It isn’t about an emotional love but choosing to be a loving person. When you choose this path people will choose to treat you with kindness and compassion as well! Isn`t this life you want to experience?

There Are Simply No Better Words To Live By

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self centered; Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies; Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got, anyway.

6 ways To Let Go Of All Fear, Worry, And Money Stress

My path to living a life of Zen is going very well. I am realizing more and more that my inner peace is all in my mind. Here are the main steps that I have been taking to reach a life of total serenity and joy. You can follow the exact same path if you choose to.

  • My mind controls my life. When I step out of my thoughts and use my conscience I realize I am in control, not my thoughts , I am more than my thoughts. I can observe my thoughts and let them go.
  • I do not worry about money as much. I live in the now and do not think about what I would like to buy. I have everything I need already.
  • I am finding more moments of peace throughout the day by shutting of the TV and radio in the home, car and morning shower. I do not hear advertisements for cars or MacDonald’s.
  • I have found out how important it is to open my heart to love. This is one of the most important journeys to go through. This is a spiritual love, not necessary an emotional love. I choose to be a loving and accepting person.
  • I am not a weak person, I have simply chosen to accept the goods and the bad in life and stopped trying to control what I can’t. I let experiences and thoughts pass through my heart before my mind attaches to them and closes down my heart.
  • Each day if am becoming more free, liberated and happy.

Finding Unlimited Energy

Every movement of your body, every emotion, and every thought that passes through your mind takes energy. Everything inside you requires an expenditure of energy. This energy is yours, it is your birth right and it is unlimited. You don’t feel this energy when you close off your heart and your mind. This spiritual energy can remain open when you decide to leave it open or close when you decide to close it. It is that simple.

Let go of all your conditioning, fears and always let the energy flow into you. Don’t ever close it. Once you close down, you block the energy’s path. Closing down can drain you. Closing down creates walls around yourself. Open up to all that life has to offer. Embrace life with all your heart and soul. Imagine that all your walls have come down and the light from a billion stars shines down on you.

This is the path to enlightenment. This is the path to unlimited energy.

Finding The Most Important Path: The Path Of Spiritual Love

When you truly open your heart you feel love. When you close it, the loves goes away. I’m slowly learning that my heart is an amazing energy center.

When something or someone begins to close your heart you can actually feel the negative energy flowing around it and within. Fear, anxiety and worry all affect our senses and these senses flow directly into our heart. If you resist this energy flow, your heart constricts and fights. When you open your heart to the world, the energy can pass right through it. And because the energy passes through it you begin to live in the moment more. Negative energy does not get “stuck” in your heart, thus sending your mind into a state of useless thoughts. You begin to accept life and also open up to all its wonders.

Now each and every moment in life is lived with an open heart. Every encounter with people in life is met with a positive energy which flows through the heart. Each encounter in traffic is met with grace and an acceptance. The world is viewed through a new lens.

Once you stop closing your heart your mind becomes free of fear, anxiety and conditioned thoughts. This is the path towards freedom and happiness.

I now carry an index card with the words written on it, “Was I more loving today?” “Was I more loving to myself today?

This is the path towards spiritual enlightenment. This is the path towards spiritual love.

How I Am Learning To Live My Best Life

Opening my heart and finding beauty

I was not brought up in an emotional household. My parents were very strict and unforgiving. Years later I realized that this was the way they cared. Better to have strict parents than parents that don’t care. The worst thing a parent can do to a child is not care. Children want to know that their parents care for them in some way shape or form. I know my parents cared. Now years later, I am on my own spiritual path. I am on a path to open up my heart and to be totally free. I want to be free of worry, doubt, envy and fear. I want to find beauty in all of life’s simplest of moments. I want to live each and every moment to the fullest. Tonight I was watching the sunset turn the sky into ribbons of a deep salmon color. It was one of those beautiful “ah ha” moments. This is what life is all about. Letting go of all those illogical worries and loving my short time on this earth. I want to embrace each moment and open my heart to all of them. Always.

Opening my heart before my mind reacts.

As I drive across the bridge in the morning, I sometimes click off the Audio book I’m listening to and drive in silence. I then hear the soft thumping of the tires on the bridge struts. As my mind quiets I watch the soft, grey morning clouds float off the top of the skyscrapers. I watch the golden rays of sunshine reflect off a thousand window panes, creating a magical splash of vibrant gold across the city. If a driver cuts me off, I feel my heart contract and begin to close. Before my mind reacts I allow my heart open again and let the moment go. I am too much in love with this morning and this life to allow my heart to close and have my mind react negatively. It is going to be a magnificent day. I only have a short time on the earth. This is my path. I am on it now, there is no going back.

Peace

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
Beautiful day

U2

The #1 Goal In My Life

October 15, 2009 by Terry

I am seeking permanent serenity, joy and happiness. It isn’t always easy. Becoming enlightened means we have to let go of all the conditioning, worries and ego that we carry with us every day. It requires that we accept life as it is and stop struggling against it. We slowly learn how to tear down all the walls that protect us and to let the light shine in. We learn how the heart reacts to life and then the mind afterwards, creating unnecessary pain, insecurity and worry. We learn how to not react and to not keep the pain inside of us. We also learn to accept suffering, instead of avoiding it and move on. We learn to let it all go. We learn to use our consciousness. We learn to be truly happy.

I read that we are one spinning planet of water and dirt spinning around a star, amongst hundreds of billions of stars in our own Galaxy. Sometimes I look up at the sky and think about that. It seems that everything else is trivial compared to that thought. Should I be that concerned about what people think about my clothes or car?

I am learning to accept everything life has to offer. My time is limited on this planet. I want to spend the rest of it experiencing freedom, joy, peace and love. I hope you choose to join me.

2 Guaranteed Ways You Can Drastically Change Your Life

October 12, 2009 by Terry
Filed under Lifestyle, Mind, Zen Forever

I continue to draw on meditation and living in the present moment to live a calmer, happier and more carefree life. They have all helped tremendously. Now I am in the process of finding an endless energy flow by releasing all useless thoughts and fears.

Each thought takes up valuable energy

Every movement, emotion and thought that passes through your mind takes up your energy. A closed mind closes off your energy. An open mind opens up you to more energy. To experience high energy means to live a life without your inner voice constantly chatting you up. Learning to live with an open and quiet mind is a key to living a truly remarkable life. When we fight life with constant thoughts we continuously restrict the flow of energy and allow fear to take over our lives. Don’t lose yourself in your thoughts. Be aware of them and let them go. You are not your thoughts. You are more than that. Let go of them right now. Begin by asking yourself “Who am I?” You really are not your thoughts.

Fear is the cause of every problem

Fear stems from emotions such as anger, jealousy, possessiveness and envy. Getting rid of fear will open your heart and remove those endless negative thoughts that run like a movie reel through your mind. Learning to accept and let go of your fears will be the best life change you can achieve. It is our fears that hold us back in life. Fear that we will not be good enough at work. Fear that we will not find love. Once we latch onto our fears and dwell in them they become very difficult to let go. We allow our fears to condition us and this in turn makes us act certain ways. This also uses up our precious energy. Remove all the obstacles that create your fear. Let them go. Keeping your fear inside you will only trap you. Let it go. Open your heart and let in what life is trying to teach you. Now you will be on a remarkable spiritual path to feeling at peace with yourself and the world.

3 Reasons Why Some People Almost Always Go Insane But I Don’t

October 1, 2009 by Terry

Traffic

There are some days when I feel like slapping people in traffic. They rudely cut me off and force me to jam on my brakes like a rookie F1 driver on a rainy day. I then fantasize about rolling down their window and smacking them silly. Or if the traffic is thick I would jump out, crouch and sneak up while springing up at their window shrieking BOO!! and waving pretend claws in the air. Of course the first would get me arrested and the second may cause a heart attack.

Traffic solution – Audio books

I listen to audio books in my car. Lately I’ve been loving “Living a Life of Inner Peace” by Eckhart Tolle. I take pleasure in some spirituality on occasion and this audio book is not only spiritual but hilarious. Eckhart gives an amusing, introspective and at times wistful talk to an audience and shows us a side that really makes him more human (less robot). Believe or not, probably my favourite Audio book for the car. Look at me calling him Eckhart, like I’m his beer drinking bud. That should be MR Eckhart.

Purchasing dress pants

I tried going to discount stores like TJ Maxx to buy cheap dress pants but discovered that I end up looking like MC hammer in his hilarious balloon pants after a while. Hard to find nice inexpensive dress pants. Shirts are much easier.I think so.

Dress pants solution – Find a store you like (and that has nice pants?)

Now I buy all my dress pants from Tristan. They fit well, have a good selection and I try to purchase them on sale. After Christmas is a great time. The only down side is the buttons pop off because they are machined on (and made in Canada!). So I get this tiny Chinese woman to sew them back on. Out of the blue last week she accuses me of not paying 3 cents on the tax and I threatened her boss about taking my business elsewhere. WTF? Anyhoo, we straightened it out and almost had a three way group hug. Who knew buttons or 3 cents could cause WWlll! Find a store you like and stick with it.

Work stress

For many years I found myself in the morning gulping down breakfast, worrying about the latest work issues, hopping in the car and barreling down the highway to make it in on the hour. Yes, a very stressful way to begin the day.

Work stress solution – Have a great morning

Now I gulp down my breakfast and tweet! Ok, not the most relaxing method but one major difference is that before hopping in my piece of metal on rubber tires, I take a few moments to take in the beauty of the morning. This comes from years of meditation and practicing living in the now. The world can be a truly stunning place in the morning. The air is amazingly fresh and at times delightfully dewy. Clouds roll lazily by. Just looking up at the sky can be a Zen experience if you  take your sweet time to soak in the moment. Not hours now, we are talking a few minutes here. After my morning intermission I’m then prepared to barrel down the highway once more. Kidding! But that small break creates a much more relaxing start to the day.

3 Proven Ways You Can Radically Change Your Life

September 13, 2009 by Terry

There have been some fascinating news articles written lately about why we become fat, happy (or not), and have possibly stopped thinking for ourselves. Here are a few excellent ways to change your life for the better. Also please see the links below.

Educate yourself (learn about evolution) and your brain

My own journey towards truth and happiness began by reading about human beings, their evolution throughout the ages and also how the brain works. Why is salt, television, and smoking so common yet so bad for us? One reason is because we have let media or our friends (I’ll explain this later) influence us. How much time do you spend watching television and are you benefiting from it? Are all those McDonalds commercials good for you? How often do you read a non-fiction book? Do you understand why you have bad habits and addictions? Maybe it is because the brain actually rewires itself and the neurons and connections actually strengthen inside the brain as habits and addictions strengthen. There is nothing more important than picking up a book and educating yourself. I’ll give you a great link to a few good books and article.

Turn off the TV and advertisements

Where do you get your ideas and beliefs from? Do you get them from the television or the Internet?  Maybe you are becoming fatter, unhappy or lonely because you have not bothered to learn the scientific facts about obesity, happiness and relationships? Perhaps we are looking for a quick fix from the Internet (including Google solutions) or television and have learned to stopped thinking for ourselves. So shut off unnecessary social influences and start reading a book and talking to your friends. Talking to your friends is tremendously important to you. Here is why.

Make friends with similar interests

I told my friend about my love of small MacDonald’s hamburgers. I don’t eat them often but when I do they sure are yummy. My friend calls them “candy”. I think he is right, it is just white bread, a small piece of meat and a few condiments. Those small burgers are a small tasty snack but with almost zero nutrition. Almost like candy right?  So I don’t eat them as often. Studies have proven that our social networks and friends have a huge influence on us. In one study when one person becomes very fat, the spouse’s risk will increase 37 percent. If a friend became obese the risk to another friend went up 171%! So you see how our social networks and friends can influence us? Our habits and happiness are directly related to our social networks. We are people. We need each other. So our friends may make us happy but can be very unhealthy for us. Good idea to start thinking for yourself a bit more?
